Scott Walker, one of the assistant managing editors at the News, has passed us word of a new glossy, monthly magazine for “smart, fun, fearless women” in the works by the advertising department. The editor-in-chief has been hired but they are looking for a managing editor, part-time designer, sales manager and administrative assistant. You can find all the information you need at al.com. To get you started, here’s a direct link to the managing editor listing.

A special hello to those who found our site through the Birmingham Regional Chamber of Commerce.
Media of Birmingham is proud to be included in the August 2007 story on young professional groups in Birmingham Magazine. Our thanks to associate editor Mary Ellen Stancil for including us in the feature.
We’re also grateful to be part of YPNow.org, a special site by the chamber that puts Birmingham area groups and nonprofit organizations in one comprehensive directory. Our thanks to Alison Howell and MOBster André Natta for setting up the Civic Organization Roundtable and site.

It may have been hot, but it was also plenty humid. At least we had beer on hand. More than 20 MOBsters attended our August affair at the J. Clyde. But don’t take our word for it. Pretty pics above and on the jump.
A special thanks to Bob Farley of f8 Photo for these pics.
Check out photos from our event …
With work responsibilities claiming two of our team, the rest of the crew — Emily, James and Christina — took to the pins Saturday, Aug. 4, and relentlessly threw down strike after strike for Big Brothers Big Sisters. Other team members who couldn’t make it but helped raise money were Zak and Colin.
This year we raised more than $800 “Bowling for Kids’ Sake.” Even better, that brings our four-year total to $2,838. Woo hoo!
A big thanks to everyone for donating, to Kenn for getting Bailey’s patrons to pony up and to Wade for organizing our team.

Launch party alert. Mark your calendar for The Terminal’s launch party at Bottletree Wednesday, Aug. 29 from 5-8 p.m. Word is there are some pretty nice door prizes to be had.
It’s not like we know that many people with the guts to quit their job to jump into Web publication so let’s come out and support the guy behind The Terminal, our fellow MOBster Andre. The event will also double as a fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald House, the charity chosen by Terminal readers to support, and the Hopeline project. Hint, bring your old cell phones.

You offer the jobs. We offer to get the word out. Here’s the latest in the MOB INbox:
Trying to break into the advertising biz? Need a way to get your foot in the door? Here’s your shot. Cummings Creative Group is a full-service agency in Birmingham, looking for a bright and creative intern to add to our already “bright and creative” team. If you’re off-the-chart brilliant, hard working and ready to make your mark on the Birmingham Ad community (and beyond), contact Chris Cleland with Cummings Creative Group at ccleland@lithomedia.com.
This is a “non-paid” internship. However, you’ll be compensated with plenty of experience, knowledge, an upper-hand over other job seekers in the ad community, and sore stomach muscles (from laughing a lot). If you’re interested, contact Chris Cleland at ccleland@lithomedia.com or call (205) 939-1233.
